Life is sacred
Plain and simple truth about Islam is that Islam gives the first and basic human right of life a special importance and it prohibits killing innocent people, irrespective of their religion, race, colour, etc. Life of a single person is given so much importance that killing a single person (for a reason other than crime punishable to death under Sharia Law) has been considered equivalent to killing the whole mankind & saving a single life is considered equivalent to saving the whole mankind. Qur’an: Surah Al-Mai’dah, Ayah 32.
At another place, Qur’an orders Muslims as follows:
“Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from:
- Joining anything in worship with Him;
- being unkind and not being dutiful to your parents;
- killing your children because of (fear of) poverty – We (Allah) provide sustenance for you and for them.
- committing Al-Fawahish (immoral sins) – whether committed openly or secretly; and
- killing anyone, except for a just cause (i.e. for the crimes punishable to death under Sharia Law).
This He has commanded you that you may learn wisdom.”
