What is Jihad?
Literally Jihad means “to strive or struggle”. When used in Islamic perspective, it means to strive or struggle in accordance with rules of Islam. Jihad is a very broad term the meaning of which extends from one’s struggle to attain religious perfection to the military aspect. Jihad is permissible by Sharia in certain cases. For example, against apostates, rebels, highway robbers, violent groups, and leaders or states who oppress Muslims or hamper proselytizing efforts.
